Biography

History maker Rohanee Cox was the first Indigenous Australian to win an Olympic basketball medal.

The gifted forward from Broome was an integral part of the Opals team which won a silver medal in Beijing in 2008, inspiring a generation of junior hoopers around the country.

Rohanee’s sparkling basketball CV features that precious Olympic medal, 300 WNBL games and league MVP in 2009.

She first played for the Opals in 1998 but it would be another eight years between representing her country at international level as she welcomed two children and overcame a knee injury.

Not only was Rohanee a role model but the naturally-gifted athlete was a poster girl for resilience and hard work.
