The next iteration of the Seattle Storm Administrator Fellowship is open for applications and presents a unique opportunity for a female Australian sports administrator.
The fellowship supported Jayco is a professional development position with the awarded recipient travelling to the headquarters of WNBA club Seattle Storm in Washington State, USA for a placement from May – July 2025.
Seattle emerged as an organic collaborator for She Hoops founder Lauren Jackson AO OLY when the initiative started last year. Jackson forged a trailblazing WNBA career at the club from 2001 – 2012 and the Seattle x Australia connection has continued.
Opals bronze medallist Eziyoda Magbegor is currently on roster in the Emerald City. Sami Whitcomb & Jade Melbourne have also been a part of the program in recent years.
Courtney Schild, Events and Logistics Manager for Basketball South Australia was the recipient of the fellowship in 2024 and offered insight to her experience.
“The experience in Seattle was incredible, whilst it was a step out of my comfort zone to be in another country away from friends and family the Storm Front Office team welcomed me in with open arms. The team was kind and engaging making me feel like part of the team from day one,” said Schild.
“The fellowship allowed me fortnightly periods with almost all aspects of the Front Office team allowing me insight into Marketing, Operations, Community & Social Impact, Ticketing and Public Relations,” she added.
“It provided me with a well-rounded and overall view of the requirements and efforts for a majority of the business. Throughout this time, I would focus my questioning and need for further understanding in relation to my role in Events and Logistics working with partners here at Basketball South Australia.”
Applications close 8 March 2025. Details can be accessed here.
